Faculty of Sports Internal Seminars Have Begun

Our Faculty’s Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching lecturer Atilla Çakar delivered a seminar entitled “The Effects of Climate Conditions on Ski Training.”

During the seminar, the crucial role of climatic factors in planning and implementing ski training was emphasized. In particular, environmental variables such as air temperature, snow quality, wind, humidity levels, and visibility were highlighted as having a direct impact on both athlete performance and safety.

Atilla Çakar also addressed the effects of climate change on winter sports, noting that the shortening of snow seasons and the decrease in natural snowfall in recent years require the restructuring of ski training programs. In this context, he underlined the importance of artificial snowmaking systems, alternative training methods, and high-altitude training centers.

Additionally, topics such as risk management in ski training, proper equipment selection, and adjusting training periodization according to climate conditions were discussed. The seminar concluded with a question-and-answer session.
