Career Guidance from Graduates to Students at KTMU Faculty of Communication


A seminar titled “Fresh Graduate: Where Should We Start Our Careers?” was held at the Faculty of Communication of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University with the participation of graduates. During the event, recent graduates shared their experiences with current students, offering insights into the transition to professional life and opportunities after graduation. The seminar was moderated by Assist. Prof. Dr. Venera Narinova, a faculty member of the Faculty of Communication. Speakers included 2024 graduates of the Public Relations and Advertising Department, Erkeaiym Kurmanbekova and Kamila Akimova, as well as Begaiym Kurmanbekova, a 2024 graduate of the Journalism Department.

Real-life experiences guided students
During the seminar, the graduates emphasized that career planning should not be postponed until after graduation. They highlighted that internships, projects, and competition experiences gained during university play a decisive role in the transition to professional life. Participants also stressed the importance of early preparation in today’s highly competitive job market.

Those who seize opportunities stand out
Erkeaiym Kurmanbekova, who works in PR and marketing, noted that making the most of opportunities during student years provides a significant career advantage. She stated that participating in national and international competitions is an effective way to gain experience, adding that every effort is an investment in the future.

Networking as a key career tool
Kamila Akimova, a PR specialist in the banking sector, highlighted the importance of building a professional network. She noted that establishing strong connections is a crucial element in one’s career journey, especially as a source of support during challenging times.

Success is built step by step
Begaiym Kurmanbekova, who works in corporate communications and sustainability, encouraged students not to be afraid of expressing themselves and to remain open to continuous learning. She emphasized that success is not achieved overnight but is built through small, consistent daily steps. She also shared that she was once inspired by similar events as a student and expressed her happiness at now being on the same stage as a speaker.

The seminar provided practical benefits for students
In her closing remarks, Assist. Prof. Dr. Venera Narinova emphasized that a successful career is shaped by the steps taken during student years and highlighted the importance of initiative and idea generation among young people. At the end of the seminar, students gained practical knowledge about current job market expectations, CV preparation, and key points to consider during initial job interviews. The event was regarded as a productive meeting that strengthened experience sharing between graduates and students.
