Students from the Faculty of Communication at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University won first place, second place, and the TRT Special Award in the short film category at the 12th TRT Future Communicators Competition. Seven works from the faculty reached the finals in the competition.
Students from Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) Faculty of Communication returned with three awards from the 12th Future Communicators Competition organized this year by the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT). In the short film category, Gülşat Kayıpbekova took first place with her film "Airplane" (Uçak), Ahmet Hakan Eryılmaz took second place with his film "Egg" (Tukum), and Ayzirek Karazakova's film "Candle" (Mum) was awarded the TRT Special Award. Thus, KTMU Faculty of Communication students won three of the four awards presented in this category.
A total of 2,081 students from 141 universities with 2,045 works applied to this year's competition across 15 categories, with the award ceremony held at the MEB Şûra Hall in Ankara. Following the preliminary evaluation, 133 works prepared by 167 contestants from 41 universities made it to the finals for selection committee evaluation.
First and Second Place in Short Film Belong to Manas
First-place winner Gülşat Kayıpbekova prepared her film "Airplane" under the advisement of Nargiza Mamatkulova. Ahmet Hakan Eryılmaz secured second place with "Egg," prepared under the advisement of Fahri Tarhan. Ayzirek Karazakova, who prepared the film "Candle" under the advisement of Stambulbek Mambetaliyev, received the TRT Special Award.
The academic advisement accompanying the students' work formed a part of the shared effort behind the results achieved. Having three different student productions awarded in the same category served as a concrete reflection of the faculty's film production in the competition results.
Seven Works Evaluated in the Finals
In addition to the three award-winning films, the KTMU Faculty of Communication was represented in the finals by four more works. "The Lock" (Kilit) prepared by Azema Amanbek Kyzy under the advisement of Müslim Şahin; "Sound of the Wind" (Rüzgarın Sesi) prepared by Erkayim Patidinova and "Between the Mountains" (Dağlar Arasında) prepared by Ayzat Taalaybek Kyzy, both under the advisement of Nargiza Mamatkulova; and "From Generation to Generation" (Nesilden Nesile) prepared by Tologon Sabyrbekov under the advisement of Stambulbek Mambetaliyev were among the finalist works submitted for the selection committee's evaluation.
The seven finalist works enabled the students to participate in an evaluation process outside the university with their own creations. The works of both the award-winning and finalist students expanded the faculty's representation in the competition across various productions.
Ceylan: We Value an Educational Environment Where Our Students Can Produce
Rector of KTMU Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan congratulated the students who won awards and reached the finals in the TRT Future Communicators Competition, stating that these results are a valuable reward for turning original ideas into works through effort and discipline. Expressing that they value the contributions of advisors who guide students' production processes with knowledge and experience, Ceylan pointed out that academic advisement plays a decisive role in developing young people's narrative skills, maturing their technical choices, and forming their own cinematic language. Emphasizing that the technical infrastructure and production facilities of the Faculty of Communication, which support practical training, provide a foundation for students to turn the knowledge gained in classes into concrete projects, Ceylan noted that as a university, they attach great importance to an educational environment where young people can develop their ideas, learn by experimenting, and bring their works to diverse audiences.
