SCREENING OF THE DOCUMENTARY “GÜLNIHAL”: A MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTION TO COLLECTIVE MEMORY
The Department of Public Relations and Advertising at the Faculty of Communication of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University organized a special screening of the documentary “Gülnihal” with the aim of strengthening historical awareness and fostering a shared collective memory.
The documentary, which focuses on the tragic events that took place in Yalova and its surroundings during the years of the Turkish War of Independence, deeply moved the audience. The narrative, shaped around the massacres and forced migrations that occurred during the Greek occupation in 1921, aims to build historical awareness and national consciousness among students.
Students who attended the screening had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the hardships experienced in the past. The event also contributed to the development of a shared understanding of this significant period in the collective memory of the Turkish people.
Organized by the Department of Public Relations and Advertising, the event once again demonstrated that the university not only provides academic education but also places great importance on the transmission of cultural and historical values.
