Seminar: “The Future of Communication Technology: 6G's Potential in Japan and Implications for Kyrgyzstan”.
Introduction:
The Department of Industrial Engineering of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University hosted an important seminar on 27.12.2024 titled "The Implementation of 6G Technologies in Japan: Challenges and Opportunities," presented by Instr. Aybek Adanbayev. The seminar examined the potential impacts, challenges, and opportunities of 6G, the next-generation communication technology after 5G, specifically in Japan, while also evaluating the lessons and potential applications that Kyrgyzstan can draw from these experiences.
Seminar Content:
The seminar explained the basic features of 6G technology, the innovations it will bring compared to 5G, and its potential applications. Instr. Aybek Adanbayev emphasized what 6G's features, such as higher speeds, lower latency, wider coverage, and artificial intelligence integration, mean for a technology-leading country like Japan, and how these developments can be adapted considering Kyrgyzstan's unique conditions. Using the example of Japan, the following topics were addressed and evaluated in the context of Kyrgyzstan:
- Smart Cities and Infrastructure: By examining smart city projects in Japan and 6G's role in these projects, the potential of 6G for developing similar projects in Kyrgyzstan and improving infrastructure was assessed. The importance of smart city applications, especially in major cities like Bishkek, for Kyrgyzstan was emphasized.
- Industry 4.0 and Automation: By addressing industrial automation applications in Japan and 6G's contributions in this field, the benefits that 6G can provide for increasing automation in sectors such as agriculture, mining, and light industry in Kyrgyzstan were discussed.
- Driverless Vehicles and Transportation: By examining the developments in driverless vehicle technologies in Japan and 6G's critical role for these technologies, the potential of 6G for improving transportation infrastructure and modernizing the logistics sector in Kyrgyzstan was evaluated.
- Health and Telemedicine: By addressing telemedicine applications in Japan and 6G's effects in this field, the importance of 6G for increasing access to healthcare services, especially in rural areas of Kyrgyzstan, and developing remote diagnosis and treatment opportunities was emphasized.
Opportunities and Recommendations:
The following recommendations were presented at the seminar for Kyrgyzstan to make the most of 6G technology:
- Collaboration with Japan and Technology Transfer: Ensuring the transfer of knowledge and experience by collaborating with Japan and carrying out joint projects.
- Regional Collaborations: Developing 6G infrastructure on a regional scale and sharing costs by collaborating with Central Asian countries.
- Focusing on Priority Sectors: Prioritizing 6G applications in line with Kyrgyzstan's economic priorities (e.g., agriculture, tourism).
- Pilot Projects and Applications: Testing 6G technology with pilot projects in specific areas (e.g., rural area connectivity, disaster management) and evaluating the results.
Contributions of the Seminar:
The seminar provided important information on the potential of 6G technology and its possible applications for Kyrgyzstan based on the example of Japan for students, academics, public officials, and sector representatives.
