"Tak Teke" Concert as Part of Ramadan Events

As part of the university's Ramadan events, the "Tak Teke" concert was held on March 10, 2026, in the Kasym Tynystanov Conference Hall. The concert, which introduced ancient and nearly forgotten instruments of Kyrgyz folk music, generated great interest among art lovers. The program began with Koysun Kemilbekova, a music student in the Faculty of Arts at KTMU, performing excerpts from the epic poem "Manas." Since the Manas narrative is primarily performed by men in Kyrgyz culture, the presence of a female narrator on stage was met with great interest and approval from the audience. "Tak Teke," the main theme of the concert, represents a unique performance tradition in Kyrgyz folk music, imitating the sounds of nature and the rhythmic movements of animals. Through its rhythmic structure, breathing techniques, and symbolic connection to nature, this musical tradition is transformed into both a visual and aural stage performance. The program continued with performances on the komuz and dombra. The artist's virtuosity and stage presence elicited thunderous applause from the audience; the performance turned into a true musical celebration. The concert also featured rare instruments of Kyrgyz musical culture. A stunning performance was given on the chur, an instrument consisting of only a single wooden tube and quite difficult to play. The audience also praised the chopo-chor, a traditional clay wind instrument. At the end of the program, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Mehmet Özkarcı, delivered a short speech, thanking Rysbek Zhumakunov, a lecturer in the music department, for his efforts in preparing the event. In his speech, Professor Özkarcı emphasized that such events aimed at preserving ancient Kyrgyz folk music instruments are of paramount importance for the preservation of cultural heritage, and noted that Zhumakunov's contribution in this area is extremely valuable. The program concluded with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to Rysbek Zhumakunov, accompanied by applause from the audience.
