VISIT TO SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOOL

The 2nd year students of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department undergraduate program were at N0:30 Özel Yardımcı Secondary School located at Chuy 76a in Bishkek on February 27, 2025. They went to the school under the guidance of Dr. Kadiyan BOOBEKOVA, Lecturer at the Faculty of Letters, Department of Educational Sciences, as agreed upon in advance.

School Principal Cholpon Karımşakovna ERALİEVA and Vice Principal Asel UMRALİEVA provided extensive information about this special education school, its situation, characteristics and students. RPD students asked questions to the principal and vice principals about the subjects they were curious about and received additional information. Later, by distributing the RPD students to various classes in twos or threes, they helped our students to watch the lessons in that school, get to know the students and thus gain more visual information about Special Education, knowing the characteristics of children with special needs and providing guidance in Special Education. While a total of 256 students with mild and moderate Down syndrome, autism, spasticity, physical disabilities, mental and developmental delays, and some behavioral disorders are enrolled in the school, it was learned that 2-3 students from each class are receiving education at home because they are in a suitable condition but cannot come to school or need constant help, and some are bedridden.

RPD students attended various classes and lessons in the school, observed the lessons and the communication between students and teachers, learned a lot of new information and then shared their feelings.

It is possible to say that the trip was very productive. The students left this trip very emotional, stating that the trip was effective and useful for them.

Note: Our department students went to this school last year as well, and were invited to the "April 2 World Day" program organized by our department at KTMU on April 2, 2024, and the principal, vice principals, parents and autistic children attended.
