Turkic World Tourism Professionals Met at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University

A panel on "Development of Tourism Cooperation in the Turkic World" was held at KTMU.

Within the scope of Tourism Week Events,  the Panel is organized by KTMU and T.C. Bishkek Embassy Culture and Promotion Counsellor at the University's Culture and Congress Center on April 15, 2022; Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bishkek Ahmet Sadik Doğan, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Asilbek Kulmırzayev, Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Bishkek Mehmet Davulcu, representatives of the ministries of the Kyrgyz Republic, academics, diplomats, representatives of companies and professional chambers operating in the tourism sector in Turkey and Kyrgyzstan, students and members of the press attended this event.

 The great potential of the Turkic World in tourism

T.R. Bishkek Ambassador Ahmet Sadık Doğan said in his speech at the Panel that the Turkic World is an area that makes a huge investment into the tourism sector and has great earning potential.  He believes that a great progress will be made in this field with scientific activities and practices to be carried out. It is important to evaluate tourism in a way that will be least affected by current problems such as diversification, spreading to different areas, epidemics or regional crises. This can be achieved in cooperation with the industry and academia. He also marks that students attending this event will benefit from all these topics.  Moreover Turkey has a lot to share with Kyrgyzstan. There are practical and cultural issues that Turkey should learn from Kyrgyzstan as well.

Contribution of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University to tourism

Stating that Kyrgyzstan is a very valuable country in the field of tourism with its nature and other qualities, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan said that as Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, they will continue to contribute to the transformation of these qualities into economic value and the development of tourism in the country.

Stating that he met with the Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policies of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Camankulov, Rector Prof. Dr. Ceylan emphasized that it is among the priorities of the University to produce and implement projects that will benefit Kyrgyzstan.

Alpaslan Ceylan said, “November 12, 2021 is a very important date for us. On this date, we were in Turkey with Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Asilbek Kulmırzayev. In other words, we were there at the founding date of the Organization of Turkic States. The establishment of the Organization of Turkic States is undoubtedly the most important step for the Turkic World. These steps are developing rapidly in all areas. In the field of tourism, I believe that the tourism activity in the Turkish World will add a lot to us.” he said.

Manas graduates are the human resource of the sector

Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Asilbek Kulmırzayev also explained that the diversity of tourism and the quality of service are increasing in Kyrgyzstan, that the students who receive higher education in tourism at KTMU do their internship in Turkey every year, and that the students have become a sought-after human resource in the sector in Kyrgyzstan with their professional knowledge and experience.

Prof. Dr. Kulmırzayev said, “Our Kyrgyzstan is a country that attracts tourists from all countries of the world with its nature. The quality of service for winter tourism in our country is increasing day by day. Our graduates work in the leading enterprises of the sector in Kyrgyzstan. They are working hard to accommodate the tourists coming to our country in the best way possible. In this way, they make a significant contribution to the economy of Kyrgyzstan. We are proud of all of them. I recommend our students who are currently in the hall to get the most benefit from today's scientific activity. Because our students will make a great contribution to the future of the tourism sector in Kyrgyzstan.”

“Unity in language, thought and work”

Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Yasin Boylu, on the other hand, stated that they organized the Panel with the motto of "unity in language, opinion and work", and that bringing together the members of the tourism sector in Turkey and Kyrgyzstan and paving the way for cooperation between countries are their main goals.

The first session

After the protocol speeches, the first session of the Panel was held.

In the first session moderated by President of Turkey's Tourism Academicians Association (TUADER), Prof. Dr. Muharrem Tuna, T.C. Bishkek Embassy Culture and Promotion Counselor Alparslan Akıncı, Kyrgyz Republic Tourism Development Fund President Yelena Kalashnikova and Kyrgyzstan Community Based Tourism President Asilbek Raciyev made presentations.

The second session

In the second session moderated by Kyrgyzstan Tourism Department Deputy Director Kıyal Kencematova, Turkey's Tourism Hotel Managers Association President Ali Can Aksu, Kyrgyzstan Tour Operators Association President Sergey Glohoverov and Gastronomic Tourism Association President Gürkan Boztepe were the speakers.

After the panel, a certificate of appreciation was given to the speakers and a photo was taken together.

Award for Academics from Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University from the Ministry of Education

Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University faculty members were honored with awards by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Academicians from Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University were rewarded for their contributions to education and the upbringing of the young generation.

Associate Professor Dr. Saltanat Mambayeva, lecturers Cholpon Sıdıkova and Gülnur Cumalieva from Faculty of Letters, a lecturer from the Faculty of Fine Arts Taalaykul Tasmambetova got Ministry's 'best educator' award; a senior teacher of the Faculty of Communication Abdı Satarov was worth of the 'Certificate of Honor'.

Acting Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Anarbek İbrayev received the award of Taalaykul Taşmambetova who could not come to the meeting.

The awards were given to the academicians at the meeting held in the University Senate on April 14, 2022 by Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan and Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Asilbek Kulmirzayev.
