A Lasting Honor: KTMU Names Cinema Hall After Artykpai Suiundukov

Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) paid a meaningful tribute to Kyrgyz cinema by naming its university cinema hall after the esteemed director and People’s Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic Artykpai Suiundukov.

At a special ceremony held on May 2, 2025, the hall was officially named the “Artykpai Suiundukov Cinema Hall.” The event was attended by the Chairman of the KTMU Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Çapak; the Member of the Board of Trustees and Head of Strategy and Budget of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye İbrahim Şenel; the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Türkiye and Board Member, Prof. Dr. Halim Haldun Göktaş; the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and Board Member, Albert Mahmetkulov; the Deputy Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic and Board Member, Talgat Ashirbekov; the Deputy Head of the Network Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic and Board Member, Azamat Sharsheev; the Rector of KTMU, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan; Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev, along with numerous academics and guests.

During the ceremony, speakers highlighted the outstanding contributions of Artykpai Suiundukov to Kyrgyz cinema. Widely recognized for his artistic vision, emotional depth, and originality, Suiundukov has not only earned acclaim in Kyrgyzstan but also on the international stage. His numerous accolades reflect a lifelong dedication to promoting Kyrgyz culture and cinema to global audiences.

In addition to his cinematic achievements, Suiundukov has played a vital academic and artistic role at KTMU for many years, inspiring a new generation of filmmakers. In recognition of his legacy, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Çapak, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, presented him with a bouquet of flowers during the ceremony.

The naming of the cinema hall in honor of Artykpai Suiundukov is not only a gesture to preserve the memory of a master artist but also a powerful symbol of respect for Kyrgyz cinema. It stands as a cultural milestone and a lasting artistic legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.​
