A bilateral cooperation protocol has been signed between Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) and Atatürk University to advance joint efforts in education and research. During the meeting held as part of the visit by Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu to KTMÜ, student and faculty mobility, joint educational programs, research projects, and artificial intelligence applications were discussed.
The meeting, hosted by KTMÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan in the Senate Hall, was attended by Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibrayev, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. İsmet Altıntaş and Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karımşakov, Secretary-General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Ramazan İstanbullugil, and members of the Senate.
New protocol paves the way for joint education and research efforts
During the meeting, existing academic relations between the two universities were evaluated, with a focus on expanding cooperation into different fields of expertise. Views were exchanged on developing direct communication between academic units, identifying joint research topics, and carrying out studies aimed at educational programs.
The protocol signed between the two universities in 2024 covered student and faculty exchanges, joint scientific research, meetings, and projects. The scope of work in education, research, and scientific interaction had already been expanded with the Academic Cooperation Protocol signed at the beginning of 2026. The new protocol signed during the visit aims to further develop existing relations and ensure the continuity of joint work.
Increasing knowledge and experience sharing through academic mobility
Student and faculty exchange programs were also addressed during the meeting. Emphasis was placed on students benefiting from diverse educational environments, academics sharing knowledge and experience with their peers, and this interaction transforming into joint projects.
In addition to potential work within educational programs, evaluations were made regarding the development of research partnerships among academic units. Among the examples of existing cooperation is the "Turk 2025: 1st International Manas Science and Technology Congress," held by the two universities in 2025. Covering fields such as artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and agricultural technologies, the congress provided a meeting platform for researchers from various disciplines to share their scientific work.
AI applications in higher education evaluated via ATAZEKA
During the meeting, information was provided about ATAZEKA, an AI-based assistant developed within Atatürk University. Operating on the university's own infrastructure, the system's functions—such as answering questions, preparing texts and documents, document analysis, image generation, and access to up-to-date web information—were introduced.
Through the platform, which also enables the reading and analysis of documents in PDF, Word, and Excel formats, potential use cases of artificial intelligence in academic and administrative processes were discussed. Views were exchanged on how these technologies can be utilized in the digital transformation efforts of universities.
Manas TV's broadcasting infrastructure and activities introduced
Following the meeting in the Senate Hall, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu and the accompanying delegation visited Manas TV. The visiting delegation was informed about the television's broadcasting activities and KTMÜ's institutional structure in the field of communication. Inspecting the studios and technical infrastructure, the delegation received information on the role played by Manas TV in conveying the university's academic, cultural, and social activities to the public.
