In this article, a Tabari sect/denomation which emerged in 3rd Hijri century, established by Muhammad b. Jarir al-Tabari and which disappeared approximately two centuries later is discussed. This sect/denomation is also known as Cerîriyye sect. The main theme of my work is to study is the general condition of this sect/denomation in the history of Islamic law, the founder’s life and to introduce those scholars who followed him; procedural advantage of this sect/denomation by creating their own Fiqh and to determine the peculiar provisions of Fiqh. Al-Tabari, is not only a historian but a competent scholar in commentary of Quran, Hadith and Jurisprudence, ıt ıs also the basics of Islamic sciences. Imam al-Tabari has established an independent denomination with Usul and Furû. He and his students have written a number of books regarding this sect/denomation. However, these books didn’t reach until today. Therefore, the information relating to Al-Tabari’s Sect/denomation was obtained from his famous commentary. Basically, Tabari sect/denomation was followed by Sunni school of thought. Besides this, original opinions have also been found.
