SUFISM SEMINARS – II “Keys to Reading the Masnavi and the Separation of the Ney”
On October 8, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şeyda Öztürk held the second of her Sufism seminars at the Ebu Hanife Amphitheater. It was presented within the scope of the 2nd seminar titled “Keys to Reading the Masnavi and the First 18 Couplets”, in which approximately thirty students worked. Öztürk focused on the reader first being aware of the “merâtib-i vücûd” information in order to enter the multi-layered and metaphorical area of the Masnavi. She stated that knowing the similarities between the “Ney” representation and the perfect human being in the Masnavi is an important second key to understanding the Masnavi. The seminar sought an answer to the question of who the audience of the Masnavi is. The mission carried by the “first eighteen couplets” in the history of Masnavi was emphasized.
