Hanafi-Maturidi Understanding of Religion-2


On Monday, April 14, 2025, at 3:30 PM, the second seminar on the topic "Hanafi-Maturidi Understanding of Religion" was held for the instructors of the Quran study course for girls in Bishkek at the Faculty of Theology of KTMU. The seminar was once again led by an expert on the subject, Associate Professor Dr. Nail Karagoz, a faculty member of the Theology Department at KTMU.

During the seminar, the fundamental principles of religious thought within the Hanafi-Maturidi tradition were presented, aiming to increase awareness on this topic. The participants were provided with detailed information on the following issues:

  • Key tenets of Maturidism,

  • Sources of knowledge and ways of acquiring it,

  • The obligation of knowing Allah and the path to it,

  • Divine attributes and their classification,

  • Definition of faith, its immutability, and the related debates,

  • Human actions and the concept of partial will (juz'ī irāda),

  • Understanding of good and evil (husn and qubh),

  • Belief in the afterlife and its representations,

  • The necessity of prophethood and the qualities of prophets,

  • The concept of imamate and its historical context,

  • The distinction between religion and Sharia.
