Hanafi-Maturidi Understanding of Religion-4
On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 3:30 PM, the fourth seminar on the topic "Hanafi-Maturidi Understanding of Religion" was held for the instructors of the Quran study course for girls in Bishkek at the Faculty of Theology of KTMU. The speaker was Associate Professor Dr. Nail Karagoz.
The goal of the seminar was to raise awareness about the foundations of Hanafi-Maturidi religious thought. Special attention in the presentation was given to rationalist approaches. Dr. Karagoz discussed the impact of the Mihna period on the divisions within Islamic theology, the opposition to kalam, and the criticism directed at Abu Hanifa. He also analyzed the rational line of thought followed by his disciples during the period of Maturidism and beyond, as well as the contribution of the Hanafi-Maturidi tradition to the modern understanding of religion.
