Hanafi-Maturidi Understanding of Religion-6

On Friday, April 18, 2025, at 3:30 PM, the sixth seminar in the "Hanafi-Maturidi Understanding of Religion" series was held at the Faculty of Theology at Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University  for the instructors of the Quran study course for girls in Bishkek.

The seminar featured a highly significant presentation by Dr. Aitimamat Kariev, titled "The Concept of the State in Islam." KARIEV examined in detail the historical and intellectual influences of the Hanafi tradition on Islamic political thought, providing the participants with a comprehensive perspective on the subject. He also offered in-depth evaluations of key state functions, the qualities that rulers should possess, and the relationship between society and the state, based on the core sources of classical Islamic political thought.

The seminar particularly focused on how these concepts are reinterpreted in the contemporary Islamic world and reflected in practice, analyzing the continuity and points of rupture between the past and present.

At the end of the seminar, participants had the opportunity to raise questions and discuss the issues they were curious about, further deepening their understanding of the topic.
