The III. Agriculture Student Congress, organized for the third time this year by the Faculty of Agriculture at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU), brought young researchers together on a scientific platform. At the congress, which has become a traditional academic event, senior students presented their graduation theses to academic staff, gaining the opportunity to share their scientific studies and demonstrate their professional competencies.
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ahmet Aygün emphasized that graduation theses should not be regarded merely as academic studies completed for graduation requirements. He stated that these research projects have the potential to make significant contributions to scientific production and innovative developments in the field of agriculture. Highlighting the importance of research that offers solutions to current challenges in the agricultural sector, Prof. Dr. Aygün stressed that the projects presented at the congress should go beyond theoretical frameworks and be transformed into applicable scientific outputs that provide tangible contributions to the sector and guide the future of agriculture.
During the sessions held throughout the day in faculty classrooms, students shared scientific research on current and innovative topics in agriculture. Students from the Departments of Plant Protection, Horticulture, and Field Crops attracted attention with their studies on the propagation of apple clonal rootstocks, control methods against the tomato leaf miner, Kyrgyzstan’s fruit export potential, and the stevia plant, which has gained prominence as a natural sweetener.
Presentations focusing particularly on diseases and pests affecting regional agriculture were followed with great interest by academicians, while the students’ scientific approaches and solution-oriented projects received high praise.
