The students of Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University are to take one of the 4 credits lesson of English language as a compulsory course in their program between 1-2 terms in the semester. After students’ registration at the University they take placement and exemption exam in English and their levels of English are determined to start from. The successfully taken lessons in placement and exemption tests are given credits and recorded in the transcript.
From 1995 until 2013 in our University English, German and Russian language classes were conducted in the Preparation Course.
According to Kyrgyz Ministry of Education decision made in 2013-2014 Academic Year the Kyrgyz and Russian languages for the 1-year students of Higer Educational Establishments are taught as compulsory subjects and the hours of service classes have been increased. In above mentioned academic year the Dapartment of Foreign Language was formed in Higher School of foreign Languages. Kyrgyz Coordinatorship, Russian Coordinatorship, English Coordinatorship and German Coordinator were formed in this department .
Among above mentioned lessons English is compulsory for all students; German is elective and compulsory in some departments; Russian is compulsory for the students from outside of Kyrgyz Republic; Kyrgyz is taught as compulsory for the students who are citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
