The Editorial Team of the “Manas” Newspaper Discussed Its Work Plan for the New Academic Year
A meeting of the editorial team of the “Manas” student newspaper was held on September 29 at the Department of Journalism of the Faculty of Communication at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University. The meeting was led by Zeki Okyay, editor of the “Manas” newspaper and research assistant fellow. First- and fourth-year students from the Department of Journalism participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the newspaper’s mission, areas of activity, and plans for the new semester were discussed. The students divided responsibilities among themselves and developed a joint work plan for the next three months. The tasks required to prepare the next issue of the newspaper, scheduled for publication in October, were also identified.
As part of the meeting, first-year students were introduced to the activities of the “Manas” newspaper and the editorial process. It was decided that they would work together with senior students to gain practical experience. Each first-year student was paired with an upper-year student, providing an opportunity to learn editorial work through hands-on practice.
At the end of the meeting, first-year students asked questions of interest to them and received answers concerning the newspaper’s activities, the editorial process, and upcoming tasks. The question-and-answer discussion allowed the students to become more familiar with the work of the “Manas” newspaper and better understand their responsibilities within the editorial team.
