“The Goldfish,” a short film directed by Ayjamal Mirbek Kızı, a graduate of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at the Faculty of Communication of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, has received awards at several international film festivals.
In May 2026, at the 3rd International Turan Film Festival held in Türkiye, “The Goldfish” won the award for “Best Film of Kyrgyzstan.” A total of 2,105 films from different countries participated in the festival, and the winners were selected by the jury after a competitive evaluation process.
In addition, in March 2026, the film received the “Audience Award” at the international student festival Flicks International Student Short Film Festival held in the Netherlands.
These achievements are yet another indication of the creative potential of our students and the growing international recognition of Kyrgyz student cinema.
