On November 11, 2025, an international webinar titled “Integration of Instrumental Arts on the Example of Uzbek, Turkish, and Kyrgyz National Instruments” was organized jointly by the Department of Instrumental Arts, Faculty of Arts and Sports at Kokand State University (Uzbekistan) and the Faculty of Fine Arts at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (Kyrgyzstan).
The event brought together 11 scholars from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Presentations were delivered on traditional Turkish, Kyrgyz, and Uzbek instruments, instrumental education, and organology. The program was further enriched by a series of musical performances.
Karagül Tilenchiev, Head of the Music Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts, opened the webinar with a presentation on the komuz and kıl kıyak, discussing the historical development of these instruments, their structural characteristics, and performance techniques.
Prof. Dr. Kürşad Gülbeyaz delivered a lecture titled “Traditional Turkish Instruments: Zurna”, providing comprehensive insights into the zurna’s historical development, its use across the Turkish world, structural features, playing techniques, and its place in Turkish music.
Instructor Gökhan Usal presented “Traditional Turkish Instruments: Kanun”, highlighting the kanun’s historical development, varieties across the Turkish world, structural features, and performance techniques. Usal also performed a short musical demonstration, which was highly appreciated by participants.
Another presentation was given by Instructor Rısbek Jumakunov, who introduced participants to Kyrgyz national wind instruments, including the çopo-çoor and sıbızgı.
The webinar concluded with a Q&A session, emphasizing that the event strengthened cultural and academic cooperation among the three countries.
