On December 2, 2025, Professor Dr. Mehmet Özkarcı, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas Unıversity conducted a seminar for the faculty members and students of our department on the topic of “The Personality and Art of Mimar Sinan”

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkarcı, began his presentation with a brief biography of Mimar Sinan, one of the greatest architects in the world. He emphasized that Mimar Sinan, who built around 400 architectural structures, many of which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites, was a multifaceted individual — an architect, engineer, and earthquake specialist.

The seminar showcased examples of three of Mimar Sinan's most significant works: the Şehzade Mosque in Istanbul, the Süleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul, and the Selimiye Mosque in Edirne. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkarcı provided detailed insights into the architectural features of these buildings and the symbols embedded within them. He also pointed out that the roots of Mimar Sinan's art can be traced back to the Turkestan region, with significant influences from the architecture of the Karakhanids.
