International Mother Language Day at Manas Kyrgyz-Turkish University
On February 20, 2025 the Department of Philology of the Faculty of Humanities of the Kyrgyz-Turkish University “Manas” held an event dedicated to the International Mother Language Day.
The event was opened by Head of the Department of Philology of the Kyrgyz-Turkish University “Manas”, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Prof. Burul Sagynbaeva, and Prof. Dr. Nezahat Jeylan, who emphasized the importance of native language in the formation of national consciousness of the personality of the modern generation in general and philologist in particular.
After multilingual greetings of the students, a literary and musical program prepared by the students of the Philology Department was presented to the audience. The students showed their talents in different genres: theater performances “Semetei” and “Kurmanjan Datka”, Chinese tea ceremony, playing komuz, guitar and piano, expressive reading of poems in different languages, national dances, songs, poppuri, etc. The celebration concluded all participants’ joining in the famous Kyrgyz song “Kyrgyz Zheri”, thus emphasizing the key idea of unity of languages and cultures on the Kyrgyz land.
In his closing speech, the First Vice Rector of KTU “Manas” Candidate of Political Science, Associate Professor Almaz Ibrayev expressed his gratitude to the Department of Philology and its head, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Burul Sagynbaeva for organizing the event. He also praised the enthusiasm of the students of the department, stressing the importance of such events in the education of young people in a multicultural society.
