State Language Day Celebrated at Manas University
On September 22, 2026, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University held an event dedicated to the State Language Day of the Kyrgyz Republic. The event was held under the title “My Mother Tongue Is My Mother, My Nation, My Essence!”
The event was organized by the Philology and Turkology Departments of the Faculty of Humanities at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University. The meeting brought together faculty members and students interested in contemporary linguistic and cultural processes, as well as in the development of the Kyrgyz language.
The event opened with welcoming remarks by Professor, Doctor of Philology Cholpon Naimanova, Head of the Philology Department, and Associate Professor, Doctor Halid Ashlar, Head of the Turkology Department. They emphasized the special role of the Kyrgyz language as the state language, an important part of national culture and the Turkic linguistic heritage, and highlighted the importance of studying, preserving, and further developing the language.
Professor, Doctor Ismet Altintas, Vice Rector of Manas University, also addressed the participants with welcoming remarks. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of the Kyrgyz language and its special role in preserving national culture and spiritual values. His reading of his own poems dedicated to the Kyrgyz language added a particularly emotional dimension to his speech.
Professor, Doctor Alpaslan Ashik, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, also delivered welcoming remarks. He emphasized the importance of the state language in the social and educational life of Kyrgyzstan and the significance of creating conditions at the university for the further study and development of the Kyrgyz language.
The central part of the event consisted of academic presentations devoted to current issues related to the Kyrgyz language, literature, and culture.
Professor, Doctor of Philology Burul Sagynbaeva presented a paper entitled “Anthroponyms in Kyrgyzstan During the Years of Independence,” in which she examined the development and functioning of personal names in contemporary Kyrgyz society.
Associate Professor, Candidate of Philological Sciences Taalaybek Abdiev presented “Globalization and Modern Turkic Languages,” focusing on current linguistic processes in the contemporary Turkic world.
Associate Professor, Candidate of Philological Sciences Kanykey Kalieva presented “Linguistic Features of Kyrgyz Women’s Poetry,” drawing attention to the distinctive linguistic features and artistic expressiveness of Kyrgyz poetry.
A special place in the program was given to a poetry performance by poets Altynbek Ismailov and Jyldyzbek Tursunbaev. The poems dedicated to the Kyrgyz language became an emotional continuation of the academic part of the event. The sincere and heartfelt poetic lines devoted to the mother tongue, culture, and spiritual values of the Kyrgyz people touched the hearts of the participants and created a special atmosphere throughout the gathering.
Events of this kind contribute to strengthening interest in the Kyrgyz language, its study, and its use in various areas of public and educational life. For Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, the development of the state language is of particular importance. The university brings together the educational and academic traditions of Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye and provides an environment for the study of the Kyrgyz language, Turkic languages, and cultures.
State Language Day provided an opportunity not only to reflect on the history and current state of the Kyrgyz language, but also to once again emphasize its importance as a foundation of national culture and as an essential means of preserving the historical memory and spiritual heritage of the people. The preservation, development, and promotion of the Kyrgyz language represent a contribution to the cultural future of Kyrgyzstan and to the strengthening of its linguistic heritage.
