The Histology and Cytology Laboratory was established in 2012 under the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

The laboratory conducts cellular and tissue-level studies of organs from clinically healthy animals. In specific cases, microscopic diagnostics and pathohistological examinations are performed to investigate animal pathologies of various origins, including closed injuries.

Owing to its modern and advanced equipment, research activities are carried out efficiently, ensuring high-quality results within short timeframes. Since its establishment, the laboratory staff have implemented research projects funded by KTUМ and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition, the laboratory annually supports research conducted in the framework of students’ Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral (PhD) theses.

A student scientific club entitled “Histological Techniques” operates within the laboratory.

Main Objective of the Laboratory

The primary objective of the laboratory is to ensure that students enrolled in Bachelor’s, Master’s (MSc), and Doctoral (PhD) programs in Biology acquire modern cytological and histological laboratory techniques and actively engage in research activities within a contemporary laboratory environment.

The department’s academic staff carry out research projects and prepare scientific publications using histological, histochemical, and immunohistochemical research methods.

Main Areas of Activity

  • Preparation of cytological and histological specimens;
  • Staining of cellular and tissue samples (sections, smears, and washings) using hematological, general histological, specialized histological, histochemical, and immunohistochemical methods;
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis of prepared cytological and histological specimens using microscopy;
  • Conducting research in the fields of normal micromorphology and pathohistology, as well as establishing relevant diagnoses for various diseases.
