On December 4, 2023, the Parasitology Laboratory at Manas University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was inaugurated with the participation of the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar and bureaucrats. This significant event provides students with the opportunity to enhance their diagnostic, prevention, and treatment skills in animal health and parasitology through the utilization of modern technological devices.
The primary objective of the laboratory is to educate students both theoretically and practically about parasites that can cause substantial yield loss in animals, sometimes leading to fatality. This comprehensive approach aims to empower students to make contributions to the sector while prioritizing animal health.
During the inauguration ceremony Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. İsmail Shen underscored the laboratory's pivotal role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases transmissible from animals to humans. He highlighted its positive contributions to public health and mentioned that awareness-raising activities against diseases such as Echinococcus, Fasciola hepatica, and Taenia saginata would be conducted within the laboratory.
The Parasitology Laboratory is not only a hub for student development but also a platform for social responsibility projects targeting the academic environment and the wider community. It is designed to address the demands of relevant units and provide solutions to society's needs in the realms of animal health and parasitology.
