Turcology Department Seminars Have Begun

Within the “Turcology Seminars” series held by the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Literature Faculty Turcology Department, a seminar was held on 17 October 2024. The seminar which titled as “Ahmet Baytursunoglu and Turkish Languages' Terminology Problem” presented by Kazakhstan Republic National Academy of Sciences Philology Department Academic Member Prof. Dr. Serubay Kurmanbayoglu.

Prof. Dr. Kurmanbayoglu discussed the works and the contributions of Ahmet Baytursunoglu, who's one of the founders of Kazakh language and literature studies, statesman, poet and journalist, on the Turkish Language Terminology's formation and improvement. Prof. Dr. Kurmanbayoglu gave extensive informations about Ahmet Baytursunoglu's suggestions, achievements and deficiencies to development of Turkish Language Terminology. He evaluated the studies in the field within relate to present.

Prof. Dr. Kurmanbayoglu who underlines the validation of experiences and principles about composing terms, stated that “The prominet Turcologists’ scientific studies and recommendations still maintain it’s validity. The reason is these methods have been playing a crucial role to protect and improve national languages. In-depth examination of this topic will allow a complete understanding of Baytursunoglu’s modern terminology studies.”

At the end of the seminar, Turcology Department Chairman Prof. Dr. Ozan Yilmaz gave “certificate of appreciation” to Prof. Dr. Serubay Kurmanbayoglu thanks to his contributions.
