Veterans and Chess Players Participate in the “Manas Rapid” Tournament

On November 30, 2024, the Social Facilities Building of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University hosted the “Manas Rapid” chess tournament, bringing together chess enthusiasts and veterans. The event was organized by Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University in collaboration with the public fund “Union of Chess Lovers and Veterans.”

The tournament welcomed prominent figures, including the Deputy of Parliament and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Budget, Economic, and Fiscal Policy Dastan Bekeshev; the Chairman of the Union of Chess Lovers and Veterans Muratbek Zhansakov; and the Head of the Department of Health, Culture, and Sports at KTMU Nazira Kubanychbek, along with numerous chess enthusiasts.

Drawing significant interest, the tournament featured competitions in three categories, accommodating participants of various ages and experience levels. Group A included seasoned players aged 75 and older, who showcased matches demonstrating their decades of experience. Group B hosted thrilling games among participants aged 50 to 65. Group C presented professional-level players with rankings of 1700 and above, delivering unforgettable moments with their superior strategic moves.

In his opening speech, Dastan Bekeshev highlighted the importance of chess as a social activity, stating: “Chess not only sharpens our minds but also allows us to enjoy quality time together. Events like these foster meaningful conversations and strengthen social bonds. I extend my gratitude to Manas University and the young organizers for making this possible.”

At the conclusion of the tournament, certificates and prizes were awarded to the top participants in each category.
