The Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic organized a meeting on the operation and development of career and employment centers, with the participation of executives and representatives from higher education institutions.

Held on February 20, 2025, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev.

The agenda featured an analysis of the labour market and a presentation on graduate job placement, both of which garnered significant attention. According to the analysis, the labour market currently has a high demand for a skilled workforce, with 40% of the need in professional labour and 28% in engineering.

Deputy Minister Rasul Abazbek Uulu underscored the critical issue of the mismatch between the training levels of specialists and the demands of employers. He stated, “We are not just providing education; we are preparing graduates,” emphasizing that this discrepancy is a key reason for employer dissatisfaction.

During the meeting, particular attention was given to the 11 universities in the country that hold special status. Ministry officials highlighted that these institutions should serve as growth centers and drivers of development within the education system. In this context, discussions were held on the new academic departments established in universities over the past three years.

The Ministry encouraged initiating discussions on reinstating an effective system for training specialists for the needs of the labour market.
