KTMU Celebrates the 62nd Library Week with Meaningful Activities

The 62nd Library Week was celebrated at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) under the theme “Healing Library, Developing Library” with a variety of activities. Throughout the week, the programs highlighted the importance of libraries in personal and social development, while also promoting a culture of reading. 

As part of the events promoting reading culture, students who read the most books were awarded. The ceremony, held at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Reading Hall with the participation of KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan recognized the top readers for the period from September 2025 to March 2026.

Based on data collected by the Library and Documentation Department, the students were commended for their reading discipline and interest in knowledge. This traditional activity aims to encourage reading habits among students and support academic achievement. During the ceremony, the top readers were announced: Malika Manakbaeva, a Preparatory Class student at the High School of Foreign Languages, ranked first with 44 books; Luiza Abdikamilova, another Preparatory Class student, came second with 43 books; Ayperi Abdrasulova, also from the same department, ranked third with 41 books. Kanıkey Maseitova and Cumabek Alıbaev, a second-year student in the Faculty of Humanities, Department of History, shared the fourth place with 41 books, while Nazarbek Pazilov, a Preparatory Class student, came fifth with 40 books.

During the awards ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan emphasized the indispensable role of reading in the educational process and congratulated the students on their achievements. Prof. Dr. Ceylan highlighted that libraries are not merely spaces with books but are vital environments that heal and develop individuals. He noted that the process of reading and learning enriches one’s thinking and provides new perspectives.

Book Donation from Manas University to Alykul Osmonov National Library of Kyrgyzstan

Following the awards ceremony, Director of the Alykul Osmonov National Library of Kyrgyzstan Eldar Attokurov visited KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan. During the meeting at the Rectorate, Kyrgyz and Turkish publications issued by KTMU were donated to the Alykul Osmonov National Library of Kyrgyzstan. This donation, significant for the maintenance  of cultural heritage and the enhancement of access to knowledge, serves as a concrete example of academic and cultural collaboration between the two institutions.

Library Director Eldar Attokurov expressed gratitude to Prof. Dr. Ceylan for this valuable contribution, noting that the donated works would serve as important reference materials for researchers and readers. The discussion also addressed potential joint projects and scientific collaborations between the two long-established institutions, with hopes for such contributions to continue and grow in the future.

A Gift for the Future: KTMU Supports Children on International Children’s Book Day

As part of the 62nd Library Week, KTMU organized a book donation campaign for children under the slogan “One Book, One Future.” Children’s books in Turkish, Kyrgyz, English, Kazakh, Uzbek, and Azerbaijani were carefully collected to form a rich collection.

The donated books were distributed as part of the International Children’s Book Day celebrations on April 2, aiming to encourage children to develop reading habits and expand their imagination. On behalf of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, the books were donated to the K. Bayalinov State Library for Children and Youth in Bishkek by the Director of the Library and Documentation Department Maksatbek Inakbekov.

Roza Sultangaziyeva, Director of the K. Bayalinov State Library for Children and Youth, expressed her appreciation to the university administration, noting that this donation significantly contributes to the Turkish World Children’s Books section of their library.
