Rector Ceylan: “Manas University Serves as a Golden Bridge Between the Two Countries”
Speaking at the panel, KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan emphasized that cooperation between universities in Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye is built upon deep-rooted historical and cultural ties, and highlighted the importance of transforming this shared foundation into a stronger and more sustainable academic structure. Referring to Ismail Gaspıralı’s principle of “Unity in language, thought, and action,” Prof. Dr. Ceylan stated that this vision is embodied at Manas University, which serves as a strong “golden bridge” between Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye.
Addressing the university’s internationalization vision, he noted: “As Manas University, we are always ready to support and advance all bilateral collaborations between universities in Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye. We will continue to play a leading and guiding role in strengthening student exchange programs, increasing the mobility of academic staff and researchers, implementing joint scientific projects, and developing multidimensional cooperation in the fields of sports, arts, and culture.”
Prof. Dr. Ceylan also recalled the statement of the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, “The world is bigger than five,” emphasizing the need to strengthen unity and solidarity among countries of the Turkic world. He underlined that education is the most fundamental key to this unity and that cooperation in higher education will contribute not only to academic development but also to the future of nations and their collective scientific production capacity.
New Horizons in Academic Cooperation
During the panel, conducted in an interactive question-answer format, speakers evaluated new dimensions of inter-university cooperation in light of global developments and transformations in higher education. Key topics included academic mobility, joint research projects, and innovation-driven collaboration.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of advancing internationalization processes in higher education, increasing joint research activities, and establishing sustainable cooperation mechanisms between universities. Participants emphasized that inter-university relations should move beyond project-based interactions toward more institutionalized and long-term structures.
Additionally, the importance of establishing a permanent platform to facilitate regular consultations among rectors and international offices of universities was underlined. Such a structure is expected to strengthen academic coordination and further advance sustainable cooperation between the two countries.
