Assoc. Dr. Bakıt Murzaraimov gave a conference on "Missionary Activities in Kyrgyzstan" for academic staff and students in 01/04/2023. He explained, that after gaining sovereignty of Kyrgyzstan in 1991, since the republic followed a democratic and secular path, religious groups and communities started to come to the country. Religious groups of Islam and Christianity and other religions took advantage of opportunity of democracy and began to propagate their own views. After the 2000s, the country's administrators predicted that this trend could pose security problems in the future, and stated that they wrote restrictive laws to religious groups and took measures in other ways. He emphasized that it is appropriate to teach history of religions in schools in order to recognize different beliefs and extremist groups.
