Catholic Christianity and Religious Life in Rome
On October 6, 2023, the speaker of the Free Friday Talks program was the head of the Department of Religious Studies of the Faculty of Theology, Prof. Dr. Kemal Polat, with the topic "Catholicism and Religious Life in Rome". In his presentation, he talked about Christianity, making various comparative analyses with Islam. He outlined the purpose of his conversation as follows: "When you see other houses you compare them with yours and begin to love your house; when you see other villages you compare them with yours and begin to love your village; and when you learn about other religions you compare them with yours and begin to love your religion." He emphasized that in order to better understand and appreciate Islam, it is also necessary to know and compare it with other religions. The presentation, accompanied by video and photo materials, aroused great interest among the audience. After the presentation, the conversation continued in the form of questions and answers.
