A seminar on the Meanings of Headscarf Colors According to Kyrgyz Customs and Islamic Law has been held on May, 15, 2024.
On May 15, 2024 a seminar has been organized by the Kalem Club of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Faculty of Theology, discussing the meanings of headscarf colors according to Kyrgyz customs and traditions and Islamic law, and was followed with interest by a wide range of participants.
The seminar started with the opening with a traditional dance reflecting Kyrgyz customs, organized by the girls of the Faculty of Fine Arts. Research Assistant Altınay KURMANBEKOVA, who made a presentation at the seminar, detailed the meanings of headscarf colors in the historical and social context according to Kyrgyz customs. From the perspective of Islamic law, she explained the importance of the headscarf in Islam and the symbolic meanings of colors. Altınay KURMANBEKOVA said, “The main purpose of the headscarf in Islam is to protect the honor and privacy of women. "The use of colors may vary depending on cultural differences, but each color carries a certain meaning," she said.
The seminar continued in an interactive manner with the Q&A program organized by the Kalem Club and the program on headscarf tying models. The audience received information about how headscarf colors can be used in daily life and on special occasions. At the end of the seminar, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bakıtbek MURZARAİMOV and Faculty Secretary Rufiya HİSAMUTDİNOVA presented certificates of appreciation to the speaker Altinay KURMANBEKOVA who made presentation and the participants who actively participated in the seminar. It was emphasized that such events are important in terms of understanding the points where Kyrgyz culture and Islam come together and carrying them to the future.
