Nowruz the Herald of Spring


On Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 15:00, a panel discussion on the historical, cultural, and religious aspects of Nowruz was held in the Abu Hanifa amphitheater of KTMU’s Faculty of Theology. The moderator of the panel was Acting Associate Professor Aytmamat Kariev. Valuable presentations on various topics were delivered.

Gaukhar Asanbek Kyzy explored the historical origins of Nowruz, shedding light on its roots. Jibek Kejebek Kyzy discussed how Nowruz is celebrated in different cultures, emphasizing its universal significance. Aizirek Rahmanova presented Nowruz traditions in Kyrgyz culture, highlighting the evolving rituals over time. Kubanychbek Matraimov examined the theological aspects of Nowruz, focusing on beliefs and rituals in different societies.

Another key topic was the religious dimension of Nowruz. Ayturgan Avazbek Kyzy evaluated its place in Islamic jurisprudence and shared important insights into its spiritual significance.

Towards the end of the panel, the moderator, Acting Associate Professor Aytmamat Kariev, provided a general assessment and detailed explanations regarding the permissibility of celebrating Nowruz in Muslim societies. The panel offered an important opportunity to deepen understanding of Nowruz, emphasizing its role as a symbol of peace, unity, and prosperity, as well as its significance as a part of cultural heritage. Participants’ questions were answered.

At the conclusion of the panel, the Dean of KTMU’s Faculty of Theology, Professor Hasan Ayik, expressed his gratitude to the presenters and awarded them certificates of participation.
