With the start of the second term in our faculty, FRIDAY CONVERSATIONS AT THE OPEN TRIBUNE also has started. This week's guest of the conversation is İsmail ARGUNŞAH, the Lecturer  Fine Arts Department of Erciyes University, Turkey. In the speech, that took place on February, 18 2022, Argunşah summarized the development of Turkish Art chronologically and according to its characteristics and gave important information. The presentation supported by visual materials and was listened with interest by our students.

İsmail ARGUNŞAH briefly shared the following information: Turkish art is an important part of Turkish culture and includes many art styles. Some of the Turkish art developed in the pre-Islamic period, and some of it showed an important development after Islam. The Turks, whose main source of livelihood was animal husbandry, climbed to the high plateaus in the summer and descended to the plains in the winter due to the extreme heat of the regions they live in and the lack of sufficient water and grassland. They generally lived in tents called yurts in the highlands. Under the influence of steppe culture, the Turks, who preferred to live in tents, did not develop temple and palace architecture. With the influence of steppe art, tent art has developed considerably.
