KTMU Faculty of Letters lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erkan EFİLTİ was the guest of the "Friday Conversations at the Open Tribune" program this week. As it is known, this program is being organized weekly by our Faculty of Theology.
Efilti, who made a presentation on “Self-Knowledge”, drew attention to the fact that the purpose of human existence in the world can be defined in many ways, but when we look at the final results of human existence in the world, one of the most important aims of individuals in the world is to achieve happiness.
He stated that one of the most important stages of an individual's way of being happy is getting to know himself, and for this, the person should be aware of the following four aspects of himself. He underlined that these four aspects are people's feelings, thoughts, values and behaviors, and that individuals' awareness of these aspects actually means being aware of themselves.
In this context, Efilti pointed out that individuals should aim to find the answers to the following ten questions on their journey to their inner world: 1- What have been upsetting you in recent years? 2- Where do you get your energy from? 3- What is the nature of your relationship with the 3 people in your life? 4- If something had changed while you were sleeping, what would you notice when you woke up in the morning? 5- Do you try to change the people you love? 6- Is there a difference between the way you treat others and the way you treat yourself? 7- Are there things that you can't give up even though it doesn't benefit you? 8- What do you spend most of your time on? 9- Are you confident? 10- What are three self-defining things? Efilti stated that if individuals can answer these questions, they will have made an important step towards getting to know themselves.
After his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erkan EFİLTİ answered the questions of the students. At the end of the program, Dean of the Faculty of Theology Prof. Dr. Kemal POLAT awarded him a certificate of appreciation for his valuable presentation.
