ACADEMIC SEMINAR: ISTIDLÂL IN THE HANEFÎ-MÂTURÎDI TRADITION (Assoc. Prof. PhD Nail KARAGÖZ)
The fifth seminar was carried out for the lecturers and graduate students at KTMU Faculty of Theology on April, 19 2022 by Assoc. Prof.Nail KARAGOZ. KARAGOZ made a presentation on the theme “Istidlâl in the Hanafi-Mâturîdî Tradition.” Karagöz mentioned that "Istidlâl" is a very comprehensive concept describing the use of reason in proving something. He said that Hanafi-Maturidi tradition had a strong mental discipline, so Hanafi-Maturidi scholars made rational inferences in proving the God's existence, unity, attributes, etc. Karagoz emphasized that although rational inference is accepted as a presumptive evidence, it is frequently used by theologians especially to understand the realm of the unseen. The program, enriched by the contributions of the academicians who attended the seminar, ended after discussion.
