A meeting titled “The Systemic Dimension of the Stray Animal Problem in Kyrgyzstan: The Responsibility of Public Authorities and Society” was held on March 3, 2026.
The meeting was organized within the framework of the “Psy (Dogs)” documentary film project conducted by Impact Distribution Lab (Alternativa). Representatives of public institutions, the Veterinary Faculty of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, non-governmental organizations, experts, members of parliament, and media representatives attended the event.
During the meeting, the Veterinary Faculty of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University drew attention to its contributions and activities in the fields of stray animal protection and treatment, as well as animal health. Participants discussed the legal and institutional dimensions of the stray animal problem and exchanged views on sustainable and practical solution models.
The Veterinary Faculty of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University also actively participated in the meeting. Representing the faculty were Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Arı and Dr. Aidai Zhunushova. For the past four years, our faculty has been implementing successful initiatives to rehabilitate stray animals in collaboration with volunteer organizations and individuals. These efforts contribute significantly to the protection, treatment, and overall welfare of stray animals.
