A study trip to the "Kumara" ethno-teahouse, organized within the framework of the "Kyrgyz Cuisine" course, was successfully held on October 20 and November 18, 2025, with the participation of students and senior lecturer N. Turganbaeva. This two-day excursion provided participants with the opportunity to get acquainted closely with the rich culture, deep traditions, and unique culinary heritage of the Kyrgyz people.
Upon entering "Kumara," participants were immediately greeted by a warm and hospitable interior adorned with national flair. Every detail here—hand-drawn paintings, carpets and rugs with Kyrgyz national patterns, ceramic dishes, and traditional decorations—enveloped the establishment in a special sense of authenticity. The excursion was accompanied by the aroma of national food and the sounds of timeless Kyrgyz music, transporting participants on a true time travel immersion into the atmosphere of a bygone era.
The students were personally welcomed by Erkin Aydarbekov, the founder and talented head chef of the "Kumara" ethno-teahouse. Known for his great enthusiasm for preserving and promoting Kyrgyz cuisine and culture, Erkin shared fascinating stories about the beginning of his profession.
He shared valuable experiences on how he created unique gastronomic projects by combining traditional recipes with modern culinary techniques. Furthermore, he showed the students the teahouse's professional kitchen, explaining the structure of each section, the rules, and the peculiarities of kitchen organization.
The "Kumara" ethno-teahouse is not just an eatery; it is a true center where one can feel the warmth of national hospitality and the spirit of the Kyrgyz people. This trip was not only educational but also inspirational, once again reminding us of the importance of valuing traditions and passing them on to future generations.
