Aim

The aim of the Educational Sciences Guidance and Psychological Counseling Master's Program is have the knowledge and skills related to the guidance and psychological counseling service applied in the field; sensitive to social problems; responsible; respectful of human rights; able to use the information acquired during the education process in all guidance and psychological counseling services related to the personal, academic and professional development of individuals; able to produce individual-centered solutions by evaluating social and individual problems scientifically; identifying individuals with special needs and supporting them and their families; to train educators who have the modern knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes required in the rapidly changing world; know and obey the rules of professional ethics; follow the innovations and developments in their professional field; know scientific research methods and data analysis; constantly striving for self-improvement; have civic consciousness; who are open to communication and tolerant.

Program Information

  1. Guidance and Psychological Counseling Master's Program trains competent researchers in the field of Guidance and Psychological Counseling. Accepted students have the opportunity to specialize in one of the various fields of educational sciences. The program offers the opportunity to receive graduate education for students with undergraduate degrees in psychology and educational sciences, guidance and psychological counseling.
  2. There are five (5) classrooms, three (3) seminar halls, two (2) lecture halls, and computer and application laboratories in the execution of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Master's Program. It has lecture and scientific books, periodicals databases, internet infrastructure that provides access to electronic resources, study rooms and a central library that provides uninterrupted service.
  3. Guidance and Psychological Counseling Master's Program courses are currently given by six (6) lecturers who are experts in their fields, including three (3) full-time professors, two (2) associate professors, and one (1) doctoral lecturer. All of them (6) are permanent faculty members of the Department of Educational Sciences. Some of these faculty members have completed their doctorate abroad. All faculty members conduct joint scientific studies with researchers abroad and participate in scientific activities. Three (3) faculty members are scientists specialized in different fields of education, assigned to our department from prestigious universities in Turkey for at least five (5) years. At least three (3) scientists from Turkey work in our department every year.
  4. It has exchange programs and double degree agreements with reputable universities abroad. In addition, student exchange programs such as Erasmus, Mevlana, Orhun offer free education at universities in many countries, including Turkey.
  5. The Guidance and Psychological Counseling Master's Program is constantly updated according to scientific developments and innovations, taking into account the opinions of the stakeholders.

  1. Has the competence to design guidance and psychological counseling plans and programs at different levels of educational institutions;
  2. Develop and use new conditions, innovations and opportunities in designing activities to improve the quality of education.
  3. Can use modern methods and technologies for the organization of the educational process at different levels of educational institutions, taking into account the age and individual characteristics of the students.
  4. With Guidance and Psychological Counseling services, clients can gain self-realization, developing rational thoughts, gaining new functional behaviors, producing solutions to new problems and effective communication skills;
  5. Apply psychological counseling skills to the counseling process within the framework of ethical principles; Evaluate the knowledge and skills in the field of Guidance and Psychological Counseling;
  6. Has the competence to receive vocational and personal training and to design a further education directive.
  7. It can identify the problems of individuals who need marriage and family guidance within the framework of family counseling theories and produce solutions to their problems;
  8. Identify individuals with special needs, prepare family-oriented education programs and provide psychological support, and prepare individualized education programs for schools;
  9. Can communicate with different groups (communities, parents, and partners), use media and information and communication technologies.
  10. Can use innovative technologies and scientific methods in their research.
  11. Will be able to identify current problems related to the development of a modern education system and analyze the results in general.
  12. Integrate research analysis and results into teaching proposals.
  13. Can present scientific studies to the scientific community in the form of papers, scientific articles and multimedia presentations.
  14. Gains experience in developing their knowledge and professional pedagogical competencies independently and autonomously throughout life.
