The R4D project seminar on "Preservation of Central Asian fruit tree forest ecosystems, pome fruit varieties and germplasm from the recent epidemics caused by the invasive bacterial pathogen Erwinia amylovora (fire blight)" is a meeting that brings together researchers, experts, and stakeholders to discuss ways to mitigate the impact of fire blight on fruit trees and preserve the Central Asian fruit tree forest ecosystems, pome fruit varieties, and germplasm.

The workshop was held from 13 to 15 June 2022 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The meeting provided a platform for researchers and experts to share knowledge, experience and develop strategies to address fire blight and other invasive bacterial disease pathogens affecting fruit trees in Central Asia.

At the seminar, the head of the Department of Plant Protection of our university, Prof. Tinatin Doolotkeldieva made presentations on the topics: “The determination of the extent of bacterial fire blight disease and it`s dissemination routes within Kyrgyzstan for 2019-2021”, “Exploring Streptomyces bioagents for the management of Bacterial blight disease in vitro and in vivo conditions”, as well as “Screening of wild and domestic apple varieties for relative susceptibility to fire blight”, where she informed the workshop participants about the results of the above studies.
