The Department of Horticulture and Field Crops was opened in 2007 under the Faculty of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan Turkey Manas University, it started its first undergraduate education with the students who were taken to the preparatory class in the 2008-2009 academic year and gave its first graduates in 2013.

 

With its collection, production and research areas located in the Manas Campus area in Bishkek, the Department is suitable for growing a large number of horticultural crops (fruits, vegetables, vineyards, ornamental plants) and field crops (cereals, industrial crops, edible grain legumes, forage crops) species and varieties. It has facilities. Since modern laboratories, greenhouses and cold storages have been added to these facilities, students receive practice-oriented education and training in physical and ecological conditions that Horticulture and Field Agronomy do not have not only in Kyrgyzstan but also in many countries of the world.

 

In the department, which has an academic staffs specialized in its field, scientific studies are carried out on subjects such as growing, breeding, product preservation and biotechnology of horticultural and field crops. The main goal of the studies carried out is to offer solutions to the problems of the country's farmers and to offer suggestions that will contribute to the country's economy. In addition, research results are published in domestic and international scientific journals.

 

Within the framework of ERASMUS and Mevlana programs, student exchanges can be made with Horticultural and Field Agronomy departments in many countries.
