Seminar: Original Manuscripts of Yusuf Balasaguni’s “Kutadgu Bilig” and Issues of Its Translation into Kyrgyz


 

On March 25, 2026, as part of the ongoing seminar series organized by the Department of Philosophy within the Faculty of Humanities at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, a scientific seminar was held in Room 522. The keynote presentation was delivered by Bakyt Ermek uulu, a Senior Researcher at the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, on the topic: “The Original Manuscripts of Yusuf Balasaguni’s ‘Kutadgu Bilig’ and the Issues Regarding Its Translation into Kyrgyz.”

During the seminar, the speaker provided detailed insights into the surviving manuscripts of the work, their textual variations, and the complexities involved in translating them into the Kyrgyz language. Based on the original texts, a comprehensive analysis of the philosophical content, socio-political ideas, and moral-ethical values of the work was conducted.

Participants also explored the scholarly reception of the work, its historical and philosophical significance, and its position within contemporary academic discourse. The seminar encouraged active engagement, with faculty members and students exchanging profound perspectives. At the conclusion of the event, sincere appreciation was expressed to Bakyt Ermek uulu on behalf of the Department of Philosophy.
