The iftar program of Manas University, which brought the street iftar culture to Kyrgyzstan, was held this year with the participation of Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov.
Minister of Education and Science Kanybek Imanaliev, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Kairat Imanaliev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Kyrgyzstan Latif Seyfaddin Oglu Gandilov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan Shadurdy Meredov attended the Street Iftar held on April 3, 2023 at Chyngyz Aitmatov Campus. Also Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Bishkek Mehmet Davulcu, deputies, representatives of ministries and embassies, counselors, rectors, academicians, businessmans, managers of media organizations, representatives of non-governmental organizations, representatives of Turkish institutions and organizations, students and members of the press attended the event.
Ramadan Excitement Shared by 3 Thousand People
Last year's Street Iftar hosted 1,500 people. This year 3,000 people attended the Manas University Street Iftar. The Quran was read at the beginning of the traditional Street Iftar.
Tradition Carried to the Ancestral Lands by Manas University
At the program, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan said that the street iftar, which they organized for the first time last year at the University and in Kyrgyzstan, has become a tradition, and that they wanted to share the sense of fraternity, which is an important element of the Manas University culture, with the whole of Kyrgyzstan during the month of Ramadan, so this year they hosted guests from all regions of Kyrgyzstan, and that they were happy to carry this important tradition of Anatolian culture to the ancestral lands.
High Level Participation
Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan expressed his great pleasure that Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov, Minister of Education and Science Kanybek Imanaliev, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Kairat Imanaliev, ambassadors, deputies, bureaucrats attended the Manas University Street Iftar and shared the feeling of fraternity, unity and solidarity with students and all members of the Manas Family. Also Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan stated that they would be honored to have President Sadyr Japarov attend next year's iftar program.
Awareness of Youth
Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan said that Ramadan raises awareness among young on indispensable issues such as fraternity, good morals and being virtuous, and that they attach great importance to this.
Leading University in Social Issues
Rector Ceylan emphasized that the achievements of Manas University, which is a pioneer in science production, education, physical, technical and technological infrastructure, and has raised Kyrgyzstan to the world rankings in higher education, are based on the great support of President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, Communications Director of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Manas University Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Altun, and stated that Manas, which is “more than just a university”, also plays a leading role in social issues.
Ramadan at Manas University
The guests said that they were happy to be at the Street Iftar, which was initiated and traditionalized by Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, which is a pioneer in every field, and to share the excitement of such a special day with the young people of the Turkic World.
The students stated that Ramadan is experienced differently at Manas and that their university has managed to make a difference in every field.
Music Concert
The Traditional Street Iftar ended with a Music Concert prepared by the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Music.
