Book Launch Event in Memory of Taabaldy Egemberdiev Was Held at Manas University

On October 23, 2023, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University hosted a special presentation evening to commemorate the memory of Taabaldy Egemberdiev, the founder of the companies “Shoro” and “Supara,” featuring the books “Nomadic Creator” and “Oh, My Motherland!” The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Taabaldy Egemberdiev's wife, Zhanylsynzat Turganbaeva, who owns the “Supara” ethno-complex, and Manasist Zamirbek Baialinov.

The event was attended by Deputy Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Prof. Dr. Yasin Boylu, academicians and students. The evening commenced with a moving recitation of a chapter from the epic “Manas” that embodies the essence of the Kyrgyz spirit.

Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova paid tribute to Taabaldy Egemberdiev's journalistic and entrepreneurial accomplishments by stating, “When we hear the name Taabaldy Egemberdiev, we think of a talented individual who made significant contributions to preserving national treasures, intangible cultural heritage, and the centuries-old wealth of Kyrgyzstan. He is particularly recognized as the founder of the company “Shoro.” In her address to the students, Dr. Baktygul Kalambekova encouraged them by saying, “Dear students, like your great mentor Taabaldy Egemberdiev aim to be the youthful leaders who contribute to your country's future. Set your vision, work with determination, and always strive for improvement.”

The book presentation event, dedicated to the memory of Taabaldy Egemberdiev, featured the guest of honor and author of the book, Zhanylsynzat Turganbaeva, who shared Egemberdiev's life story and the process of preparing the book. Turganbaeva emphasized that Taabaldy Egemberdiev was a creative individual who dedicated a significant part of his life to creativity. She also underscored the challenges of starting a business. Turganbaeva noted that the book's title carries a lyrical and philosophical significance and that Egemberdiev possessed a unique light in his eyes, which he maintained despite the life's adversities.

Turganbaeva revealed that the book contains previously unpublished articles by Egemberdiev, his reflections on the national spirit, national honor and family. It also includes unbiased assessments of Egemberdiev's creative work by his contemporaries, presenting different perspectives. She concluded her speech by expressing her amazement at the book preparation process and its results exceeding expectations. Manasist Zamirbek Baialinov remarked on Egemberdiev's extensive knowledge of epics and expressed his pride in having had the opportunity to interact with him.

Prof. Dr. Yasin Boylu, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, extended his gratitude to the guests for their engaging discussions and conveyed, “When I first arrived in Kyrgyzstan, I visited the 'Supara' ethnic complex for a meal with our faculty. I never imagined that we would one day organize such a beautiful event in memory of Taabaldy Egemberdiev. Today, I am overjoyed that such an opportunity has been created.”

During the meeting, Zhanylsynzat Turganbaeva awarded special gifts to students who posed the most interesting questions at the event. She expressed her gratitude to the university administration and the organizing team, wishing the students success in their academic pursuits. Furthermore, Zhanylsynzat Turganbaeva donated ten books to the university library.
