Chief Physician of Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital and General Surgery Specialist, Dr. İlker Akar delivered a seminar on “Breast Cancer and Breast Self-Examination” at the Rectorate Conference Hall of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University on November 9, 2023.
During the seminar, Dr. İlker Akar provided critical information about breast cancer, discussing its definition, risk factors, ways to reduce risk, and the vital importance of early diagnosis. He also demonstrated how to perform breast self-examination and highlighted the appropriate timing for mammography.
The conference was attended by Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital's Deputy Chief Physician, Prof. Dr. Mira Isaeva, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University's Rector, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezai Turk, General Secretary Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oktay Ozgul, employees of the Martyr Eren Bulbul Healthcare Center, university academicians, administrative staff, and students.
At the seminar's outset, a brief overview of the medical career of General Surgery Specialist Dr. İlker Akar was presented to the participants. Dr. İlker Akar, emphasizing the importance of teaching breast self-examination to all women after the age of 20, provided information about risk groups and recommended monthly breast examinations.
Rector, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan underscored the significance of health and expressed gratitude to Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital for their support to our university. He acknowledged the seminar's utility and presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Dr. İlker Akar for taking the time to visit our university despite his busy schedule.
