Turkish Academy of Sciences Conferences Begin at Manas University
On September 25, 2024, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University hosted a significant event as part of the University Conferences organized by the Turkish Academy of Sciences. Prof. Dr. Azmi Özcan, a faculty member of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University and a member of the Scientific Board of the Turkish Historical Society, delivered an insightful presentation titled “The Historical Journey of the Turks and Kutadgu Bilig.”
The event, held at the Conference Hall named after Kasym Tynystanov, was attended by Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Aşık, along with many academicians and students.
In his opening speech, Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev emphasized the importance of historical consciousness, stating, “We must protect our history. With a thousand-year legacy, we should take pride in our deep-rooted heritage.” He further highlighted that understanding history is a source of national pride and that academic events like this play a crucial role in cultivating historical awareness among the youth.
Prof. Dr. Azmi Özcan expressed his gratitude to Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University for hosting the conference. He provided a comprehensive overview, guiding participants through the rich historical journey of the Turks. Special focus was placed on the cultural significance of Kutadgu Bilig, a work which Prof. Özcan described not only as a book of advice but as a guide to civilization. His quotes from the text offered students inspiring reflections.
During the conference, participants gained valuable insights into Turkish history, and the interactive question-and-answer session that followed further enhanced engagement and dialogue.
The event concluded with Deputy Rector, Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev presenting a Certificate of Appreciation to Prof. Dr. Azmi Özcan.
