International Data Science Conference Held in Manas University

“The 12th International AIST 2024 Conference” held in Manas University between 17-19 October 2024.

The event that themed “Analysis of Images, Social Networks, and Texts” discussed about the latest developments in fields such as data science, machine learning, natural language processing, network analysis, and computer vision.

The conference that held in collaboration with the Translation and Interpreting Department of KTMU and Kyrgyz Republic High Technology Park, focused on the subjects such as technological innovations such as data science and artificial intelligence.

The AIST Conference, held regularly since 2012, welcomed experts from leading universities and institutions in Austria, Nepal, and Europe this year. The event which brought researchers and engineers together provided opportunities for exchange of ideas and collaboration.

In the opening speech of the conference, KTMU Deputy Rector, Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev pointed out the rapid development of data science at present. “This conference brings different perspectives together. We will experience a process where machine algorithms that have been learning the nuances of human languages, visual data from social networks and theoretical frameworks meet real-world applications. “AIST-2024 is a concrete demonstration of the rapid changes in the world and the increasing importance of data science,” he stated. , Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev underlined that the conference serves as a catalyst that brings theory and practice together, playing a crucial role in identifying new research areas and developing innovative solutions in data analysis.

Deputy Rector, Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev thanked the organizing committee, sponsors and attendees. He stated that this platform provides information exchange between academy and industry, contributes to the rapidly developing industry world.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aida Kasiyeva, from the Department of Translation and Interpreting in Kyrgyz-English program of Faculty of Literature at KTMU, stated that this year's conference included more current topics such as natural language processing and artificial intelligence. Kasiyeva said, “Algorithms and artificial intelligence are being used not only in language but also in many different fields such as medicine, industry, and ecology. This year's conference has become an important platform for discussing and sharing the latest developments in data science and artificial intelligence.”

In the conference that was held in person, besides the presentations of speakers, technical sessions and poster presentations were also discussed.

It has been announced that 26 out of approximately 70 papers presented at the AIST-2024 Conference will be published in Springer’s Scopus-indexed journal, which is recognized by the international scientific community. Additionally, Springer Publishing House made a valuable donation to KTMU by organizing an exhibition of relevant books and journals during the conference.
