KTMU Commemorates Great Leader Atatürk with Respect and Gratitude

Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) held “November 10th Atatürk Commemoration Program” to mark the 87th anniversary of the passing of the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

The program, organized in the KTMU Rectorate Conference Hall, was attended by Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Bishkek Latif Seyfaddin Oğlu Gandilov; Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Bishkek Abdulkadir Yaman; Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Bishkek Tahir Osman Tahir; Program Coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) in Kyrgyzstan Mehmet Bodur; Deputy Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev; Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. İsmet Altıntaş and Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karymshakov; Secretary-General Dr. Fatih Ramazan Istanbullugil, along with faculty members and numerous students.

The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the national anthems of both countries. Afterwards, a short film dedicated to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was screened.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev emphasized that Atatürk was not only a statesman but also a great reformer who transformed the destiny of his nation. He stated that Atatürk viewed science, culture, and modernization as the essential pillars of statehood, saying: “Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was undoubtedly a visionary who changed the fate of his nation, reshaped the course of his era, and personally laid the foundations of science and culture. One of his most well-known sayings, ‘Science and knowledge are the foundation of the future,’ perfectly aligns with the core values of our university today. As we commemorate Atatürk, we remember his ideas, his grand aspirations, his devoted service to his people, and the enduring legacy he left behind—with deep gratitude and respect.”

Highlighting the significance of the day, Prof. Dr. Ibraev noted that just a few days ago the ancestors were commemorated, and today the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is being remembered. He added: “We must never forget such courageous heroes and should always uphold their legacies as guiding principles.”

The program continued with a conference titled “Atatürk’s State Model and Its Influence on Kyrgyzstan”, presented by Prof. Dr. Muratbek Kozhobekov, a faculty member of the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities. The conference explored the fundamental principles of Atatürk’s state model and examined its influence on Kyrgyzstan’s political and institutional development.

In recognition of his contributions, Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev presented Prof. Dr. Muratbek Kozhobekov with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Following the speeches, the Turkish World Orchestra of the KTMU Faculty of Fine Arts performed melodies favored by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. This special performance, enriched with shared tunes from across the Turkic world, created an emotional and heartfelt atmosphere in the hall.

The Atatürk Commemoration Program at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University provided a meaningful setting that evoked both respect and gratitude, reminding participants of Atatürk’s universal legacy.
