KTMU Students Achieve Significant Success at National Festival

Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University’s students achieved second place at the national festival titled “Kyrgyz Songs Performed by Foreign Students” in Bishkek, marking a significant accomplishment.

The festival, organized at the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic named after Toktogul Satylganov, was held within the scope of International Mother Language Day and in line with the “National Spirit – Global Heights” decree. It was jointly organized by the National Commission on the State Language and Language Policy under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Bishkek State University named after academician K. Karasaev.

The opening ceremony was attended by State Secretary of the Kyrgyz Republic Arslan Koichiev, Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation Gulzat Isamatova, Chairman of the National Commission on the State Language and Language Policy Melis Murataliev, and representing KTMU, Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev, along with numerous university administrators, academics, students, and cultural representatives.

Recognition Among 10 Universities

In the competition, which featured 10 higher education institutions from across the country, students performed in greeting presentations, renditions of Kyrgyz national songs, and traditional dance performances.

Representing KTMU, Mongolian students performed Kyrgyz folk music with original interpretations and stage presence, earning second place as determined by the jury. The successful students were awarded diplomas and various prizes.

 “The State Language is a Cultural Responsibility”

Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev, representing KTMU at the festival, emphasized that the university’s multicultural structure contributes to promoting the Kyrgyz language and culture at an international level. He stated that preserving the state language is not only an academic duty but also a cultural responsibility.

Concrete Example of Multicultural Structure

Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev described the achievement of KTMU students as a tangible reflection of the university’s ability to bring together students from different countries on a shared cultural platform. He noted that Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University will continue to support the preservation of the state language and the transmission of Kyrgyz cultural heritage to future generations through academic and artistic activities.

 “Language is the Foundation of National Identity”

State Secretary Arslan Koichiev highlighted that International Mother Language Day reminds us that every language is part of humanity’s common heritage. He emphasized that language forms the foundation of history, culture, and national identity, and noted that some languages face the threat of extinction.

Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation Gulzat Isamatova recalled that President Sadyr Japarov has taken important steps to strengthen spiritual development within the framework of national values, the state language, and particularly the Manas epic. She expressed satisfaction that approximately 50,000 foreign students speak Kyrgyz and participate in cultural activities, stating that such organizations reinforce friendship and cultural collaboration.

Chairman of the National Commission on the State Language and Language Policy Melis Murataliev, stressed that the mother tongue plays a decisive role in the continuity of nations and noted that the festival aims to teach the state language to foreign students through culture and art.
